A 64th District Court jury found Lawrence Brady 19 guilty and sentenced him to four years in the state penitentiary for the December 29 hatchet slaying of E P Hamner at a Plainview filling station. Brady testified he struck Hamner after being threatened with a knife during a domino game dispute.
The USS Tennessee grounded on mud flats in San Francisco Bay off Alameda while maneuvering to anchor. The Navy confirmed the grounding but offered few details as the ship had recently entered the bay from Puget Sound.
Washington officials heard Oklahoma's congressional delegation protest bids for a new air mail contract between Houston and Brownsville via Corpus Christi. They argued awarding the contract to another carrier would impair Braniff Airways service in Oklahoma.
Vice President John N. Garner and Mrs Garner will depart Washington at daylight Sunday to visit his son Tully and family in Amarillo with only chauffeur Tom Harty. He plans to stay a few days then go to Uvalde as Congress remains in session.

Perry New York June 11 Two years after 10 year old William Davis was killed by an automobile his dog Jack refused to leave the crash site. Today a car struck and killed Jack almost at the same spot ending the long vigil by neighbors and the grieving master.
