San Antonio. Rep. J. C. Duvall rode from the city by horseback to Fort Worth in drizzling rain to prove a boast about his horse racing bill. A 13 year old, Garry Thurman, accompanied him on a second horse to pace the journey. Duvall aims to finish within ten days.
In New York on June 12, defense attorney Garard Winston argued to jurors that a $1.8 million payment to National City Company officers could not be treated as personal income. He said the 1929 $666,666.67 share from the management fund was not properly deductible by the company and thus not reportable as Mitchell's personal income.

Mrs. Benjamin P. Collings of Stamford identified burglar suspect Frank Dreger as the man who helped beat her husband to death aboard the Collings yacht in Long Island Sound in 1931. Dreger, jailed on a Fairfield County burglary warrant, was compared to the killer by the survivor as authorities also pressed in on Joseph Guarino, 20, of New York, arrested with him.
