The House Ways and Means Committee rejected President Carter's standby tax raising the federal gasoline levy by five cents per gallon over the next decade if consumption falls short. The panel also voted to repeal the itemized state and local gas tax deduction saving about 700 million dollars yearly while approving a gas guzzler car tax proposal and deregulation moves.

Washington AP Four House subcommittee members vote 12 to 10 to deregulate newly discovered natural gas price controls. The move rejects President Carter’s plan to keep controls upper. if upheld, average annual bills for 40 million households could rise about $100 by 1985. Canyon Randall Agree on Rural Fire Protection Payment
