Inter state commerce commission grants re hearings for Frisco and Rock Island expansions in northern Texas. Original July 1 start is postponed indefinite while Fort Worth & Denver gains new arguments. Rock Island and Frisco seek 71 and 108 miles of lines and track sharing.
Potter County commissioners awarded a 22 034 dollar contract to Amarillo contractor Albert Randall for a 120 by 150 foot brick steel and concrete automobile show building at the Tri-State Fair grounds. The structure is fireproof with no interior columns except a center line and to be completed in 60 days. The project marks the first permanent building at the exposition grounds and will host a tractor and implement show in spring.

A three room house at 2206 West Fifth street suffered a hole burned in the roof last night around 10 o'clock. The blaze started from an unknown origin while the residents were away on a vacation and neighbors were looking after their belongings.

Seven workmen were killed and one injured when a gas pocket ignited by a dynamite blast exploded in the Cavaveras Tunnel of the Hetch Hetchy project in Alameda County. Names and statuses of the deceased are listed, with foreman Richard La Mont among the injured. Identifications are underway.

Potter County jail remains under quarantine for another week after a smallpox case prompted a visitor and inmate ban. An initial second case was later ruled not smallpox, vaccination of all inmates has been completed, and lifting is possible if no new cases appear by next Monday.
