Federal outposts clash with rebels near Chihuahua

Federal forces retreated after skirmish with rebels from a station on the Mexican Northwestern about 45 miles west of Chihuahua. Cruz Ortiz of El Paso, a said US citizen, was imprisoned in Chihuahua penitentiary on charges of federal espionage as American Consul Letcher demanded Ortiz be released via rebel chief Orozco.

Memorial Services By Trainman Unions At Central Presbyterian

Joint memorial services will be held Sunday at 2 o clock in the Central Presbyterian church by the Order of Railway Conductors and the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen. Rev. R Thomson will deliver the address. The service honors departed members from both unions and opens Amarillo affiliations annual memorial events with a long history of members remembered.

Sweetwater editor discharged after court contempt hearing

R H Richardson, Sweetwater editor, appeared before the Texas supreme court and, with a written apology and $0.85 sheriff’s fees, was discharged after a two hour hearing. The editor said the publication implied disrespect to the court but had no intent to reflect on it and expressed high regard for the court.
