A sensational local report describes gangsters clashing in a violent feud over liquor interests. The piece notes armed confrontations and a deadly toll as factions fight for control and the city braces for further unrest.
A gang of gunmen used submarine rifles to execute three men and wound five others at the Hotel Manning dining room in Fox Lake near Chicago. Sam Pellar Michael Quirk and Joe Bertsche were killed. George Druggan and Mrs Vivian McGinnis among the wounded. Police say the assault signals a turf battle between rival liquor outfits led by Terry Druggan.
President Hoover rode nearly 800 miles by car from Pennsylvania mountains to the White House traveling from Jay Cooke's lodge in Philadelphia area. He met informally with Infante Alfonso cousin of the King of Spain as crowds lined rural routes. The trip paused at a Methodist church in Liverpool and at Henry P. Fletcher's Greencastle home for lunch before continuing southward.

Miss Gladys Mills about 20 from Atlanta Texas shot herself in a Shreveport hotel room with a man companion present. The fatal shot left her dead instantly while the man T E Madding was briefly detained then released after coroner’s inquiry. Powder burns supported a finding of self inflicted death.
