Snow on the Amarillo Air Terminal runway caused flight cancellations and delays on Monday. Morning flights bypassed the airport until snowplows cleared the runway and traffic resumed. Roadways remained open but hazardous and could close if wind increases.
An ice slick on a Brushy Creek bridge caused a two car collision near Alvord that killed Amarillo couple Johnnie T. Dogett 53 and Joyce A. Doggett 51 and Dallas residents Frances Malone and her 19 month old son David. An 8 year old Amarillo girl Sherri Moon died en route to hospital while her sister Kimberly 11 is in poor condition with abdominal injuries a fractured neck and a broken arm. The crash occurred about 2 miles north of Alvord on U S 81 287.
