Tiny baby girl born weighing 20 ounces in Findlay

A newborn girl, so small her birth seemed unlikely, lies in a basket by a coal stove in Findlay. Weighing 20 ounces at birth, she receives a milk feed every thirty minutes. Her parents Charles Carmen and his wife, both 19, report blond hair and blue eyes, while the infant is described as a doll like 14 inches long.

Winter Weather Hits Texas With Snow and Ice

ARelated winter moved into Texas bringing snow flurries sleet and misty rain across the northern counties. In Wichita Falls the day saw rain sleet and snow with a 30 degree low and a top near 34 as ice coated trees. Olney also reported a 12 hour spell of snow and grizzling rain with heavy snowfall at times.

Highway robbers loot pecan truck in Illinois

Two Texas drivers James Querner and Wil liar Querner reported hijackers forced them to roadside near Joliet and unloaded 14,000 pounds of pecans at a warehouse before releasing them. Police recovered the truck nearby.

Relief Cash Distribed in Potter County CWA Week

Approximately forty thousand dollars in relief funds were distributed last week in Potter County by the Civil Works Administration. Of that amount about twenty six thousand in wages went to two thousand six hundred fifty workers, with twenty two thousand seven hundred sixty six dollars paid as federal pay.

Wheat allotment checks due for Potter County farmers

Potter County wheat allotment payments totaling $43,286.40 are due today for growers who agreed to cut next year’s acreage. The checks were airmailed from Washington to arrive this morning and will be distributed at the county agent’s office in City Hall. The total payment for Potter County is split with $60,800.96 to be paid in April. Other Panhandle counties follow this week. Wheeler County issued $9,159.80 Saturday.

Youth held after girl assault identified by victim

Carl Phillips, 22, was jailed on a criminal assault charge after a 13 year old girl identified him as her attacker. Officer Randy Lee arrested him at the Potter County Transient Bureau on Johnson Street. Phillips said he is innocent and noted he was discharged from the Army last April and gave his father's Detroit address. Police were notified at 9 55.
