Dr E F Jarrel former chairman of the Texas Livestock Sanitary Commission surrendered to Sheriff Earl Price on three indictments charging theft. He posted $1000 bond on each count and was released. He had resigned amid a legislative inquiry into job selling and denial of witnesses statements. He said his resignation was to avoid embarrassing the governor. Indictments were returned yesterday but not released until today.

Mrs. Margarete Thall Rodgers a prominent Texas figure in women’s club affairs died at the Dallas Hotel where she had resided for 25 years. Funeral services are set for Tuesday afternoon. A Buffalo pilot abandoning a Buffalo to Detroit mail flight leaped from the craft at 6,000 feet after fog prevented a landing. He landed uninjured with the parachute, saying he had tried to land for about a half hour as fuel ran low. The mail and express on board were undamaged.

A lone, unmasked bandit robbed the Phillips Service Station at 523 North Fillmore Street and fled on foot with 21.95. Police describe the suspect as about 6'2", 180 pounds, dark complexion, blue eyes, wearing blue overalls, a leather jacket and a white felt hat. a car near the scene is suspected. The robbery was reported to police at 7:30 p.m.
A tornado of tornadic velocity struck Grayson lumber camp west of Shreveport and the Soda Fountain plantation near Dixie, killing one white woman and two Negroes and injuring eleven at the camp plus eight Negroes at the plantation. The storm cut communications to Blanchard and damaged property, with miles of destruction along the two sites.
