Kirk Guilty of Murder Gets Fifteen Year Term
Louis Kirk was found guilty of murder for shooting his estranged wife Florence on July 26. The jury deliberated about seven and a half hours before a verdict at 11:50 a.m. Kirk received a fifteen year sentence with the suspension denied. He kissed his two sons and embraced his mother as officers led him away. District Attorney Hazlewood said the aim is justice, while defense counsel urged temporary insanity. The trial before Judge E. C. Nelson Jr. began last week from a 250 member jury pool.
