Four Prisoners Escape Stinnett Jail Then Are Recaptured
Four prisoners briefly escaped from the Stinnett jail before deputies and locals recaptured them. Deputy Kelly, assaulted during meals, fired at one suspect, who fled by truck and hid near the Rock Island depot. Mrs. C. C. Record Helium Output Sets U S Capacity Peak Near Amarillo
The United States government plant near Amarillo produced a record 9,801,060 cubic feet of helium in the year ending June 30, running only 10 months. Output was higher than Fort Worth’s best year, with June production at 1,407,800 cubic feet and costs dropping below prior estimates. Capacity now is 24 million cubic feet per year, up from under 10 million, with several shutdown months in 1929 1930 due to lack of orders.
