National Intercollegiate Rodeo Opens 25th Season at Sul Ross
Seventy students from 13 colleges compete September 24 to 27 at Sul Ross State University in a four day rodeo. Events include bareback riding saddle bronc bull riding calf roping ribbon roping steer wrestling barrel racing goat tying and breakaway roping. The Rodeo Queen will be crowned opening night.

Marker for Los Caballos Erected in Brewster County Texas
An official marker on Highway 385 ten miles south of Marathon honors the Brewster County Historical Survey Committee for its work. The inscription explains the Ouachita fold belt rocks formed 275 to 290 million years ago with caballos bands visible along the highway. Plans for dedication will be announced soon.
