The 1950 Sul Ross State College Lobo football squad is listed with players from El Paso Pampa Sanderson Odessa and other Texas towns. Coach Bull Johnson leads the team as fall activities include church meetings and local social events. Also noted are religious program announcements and parish activities in Fort Davis and surrounding areas.
The Fort Davis Parent Teacher Association calls a 3 PM September 26 high school meeting for the 1950 51 year opening with important business and a September 28 8 PM public session in the high school auditorium to discuss the new school curriculum and community interest in public schools. George R. Moore will speak.
J W Merrill and George Grubb with Pete Kennedy left for a business trip to Letts Iowa staying with Turkington Brothers longtime buyers of Crosson cattle. Grubb plans to return in a week while Kennedy will visit ranches in New Mexico and relatives in Arkansas. Mrs Henry G Brooks of Corona California was a house guest of J W Ledingham. Merrill returned to Ingram Tenney School and J Kimball Miller and Lewis Roy Jarrett moved to Texas A and studies there.
In Mrs J W Led Ingham’s home, the Fort Davis area Methodist Women for Christian Service marked the tenth anniversary with twelve Balmorhea visitors. A program included devotion, sermons, book talks, and new study guides, ending with a birthday cake and shared refreshments.
The text notes a 100 year union of Methodist church bodies in a Kansas City meeting leading to a new name for the group as Women’s Society for Christian Service. Weather remarks describe cool, cloudy skies over the past week.
