Central PTA wins one way street change on Brown Street
Brown Street north of Central School will become a one way from 7th Street east to 7th Street under a city ordinance to take effect September 27. The Central PTA urged the change to reduce hazards for grammar school students and sought patrol adjustments for noon and dismissal times. Parking on Brown between 7th and 7th will be limited to 30 minutes from 8 am to 4 am daily except weekends and holidays, with fines of 1 to 25 dollars for violations. The council also discussed a dump lease near US Highway 90 and asked Supt. Werner Hollis to address West Brown and North 7th flooding through necessary connections.

Gas show occurred between 1200 and 1300 but No. 1 Gena P. Pate oil test ten miles north abandoned as drilling reached 5012 feet. O N Beer of San Antonio drilled the test on Pate Ranch. Water encountered at 1347 feet, yielding an estimated 500 to 600 gallons per minute, with water standing 460 feet in the hole.

Enchilada Feed to Raise Funds for School Projector
Alpine Buck Boosters Club hosts an enchilada supper on Thursday night September 28 in the Central School Cafeteria to fund a new film projector for the athletic department. Serving begins at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are 1.50 for students. Last year’s film and processing costs for the Buc la game total about 80 dollars. Doyle Vincent oversees the event duties.
