An advocacy group formed at Breckenridge Texas plans a Tulsa Oklahoma route to Presidio Texas called the Petroleum Highway. It would pass through Bristow Chandler Oklahoma City Newcastle Chickasha Marlow Duncan Comanche Wichita Falls Archer City Clay Graham and follow the Orient railroad from San Angelo to Alpine then Marfa to Presidio. The three section plan aims to spur regional development along the oil belt and across the Southwest.

Hogs and sheep held steady with top hogs around 11.65 and fat lambs from 11.50 to 12.00. Good fat cows quoted 6.26 to 8.76 with midrange 5.25 to 8.78. bulls 6.00 to 6.50. Sheep steady. fat shorn wethers near 8.00 and yearlings 10.00 to 10.25.

Sixth Street Business Building Project Begins
A contract was set yesterday to erect a modern three story business building on Sixth Street opposite Horde Turner. The plan includes a 43 foot front and 70 foot rear footprint with hollowed surrounding back area. Foundations will support the weight of the structure and added stories may follow. Turner plans to lease the full building and add a separate office structure about 20 by 45 feet adjoining the store. Estimated cost around 8000 dollars with completion expected within 60 days.

Alpine Postal Receipts Break Records in August
The Alpine post office reports August as its biggest month ever with stamp sales up 50 percent from August 1926. Mrs. Ouin K Turney, postmaster, notes most rent boxes are taken with about four dozen to be vacated at the new quarter start October 1. Demand will rise as long term students arrive at Su Ross, leaving many unable to secure boxes. The office lists 500 boxes total.
