Alpine Schools to Open Monday for 1927-28 Term
The Alpine schools will begin the 1927-28 term on Monday September 12. A full corps of teachers has been engaged and opening exercises will be held in the school auditorium at 9 o clock Monday morning. Superintendent J H said Wednesday.

Alpine Men Survive 25 Foot Bluff Crash Near Sanderson
Two Alpine men Anja Wilson and Edgar Martin escaped serious injuries after their car plunged 25 feet into a rocky canyon about 17 miles from Sanderson. Wilson drove at 20 to 25 mph into a curve when steering failed, the car somersaulted, a nearby doctor aided wounds, and the incident occurred near Toro Rio as they were en route from Alpine around dawn. The report notes miraculous survival and mentions a nearby oil field at Spindletop near Beaumont projected to produce fifteen million barrels this year.
