92-Year-Old Texan Recall Early Days of State
Weimar Mercury notes F. A. Obenhaus a 92 year old Colorado county resident who recalls Texas history from his youth. Born near Columbus in 1849 he hauled cotton by ox cart from Alleyton to El Paso during the Civil War era and later endured long, hazardous trips along the Old Spanish Trail. He never drank whiskey, chewed tobacco for years, and has kept most of his teeth despite age. Obenhaus cherishes family, with descendants across generations, and plans to keep active as long as possible.
