Alpine High Halloween Carnival set for Oct 31

Alpine High School hosts the annual Halloween carnival on Monday afternoon and night Oct 31 starting at 5 30 in campus buildings. Twelve student groups run booths and concessions with events from a House of Horrors to a barbecue supper and cake walk. Two Halloween drama shows are planned at 6 30 and 7 30 in the high school auditorium.

Alpine couple loses absentee voting rights in Texas election

Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Gibbons of Alpine cannot vote in the General Election due to not meeting residency requirements in Texas and Alabama’s absentee rules. The Alabama law limits absentee ballots to military or those registered as absentee voters, while others must vote in person.

Hospital Chief Attends Surgical Convention in San Francisco

M. Stuckwish, administrator and anesthesiologist at Sudh. County Memorial Hospital, returned from the American College of Surgeons meeting in San Francisco. About 6000 to 7000 physicians attended daily observations of hernia repairs, bone and heart procedures, with several surgical teams present.

Texans Will Visit Mexico to Discuss Highways and Railroads

A Texas delegation will fly to Chihuahua City to confer with Gov Teofilo Borunda on the Ojinaga to Chihuahua highway and the Ojinaga to Topolobampo railroad. Participants include Glenn Garrett Austin and J Carter ing Albany among others. they will travel by car to Ojinaga, then fly to Chihuahua City for a luncheon with officials and an afternoon conference, returning by air to Ojinaga.
