Youth Fatally Disabled After Train Accident Near Paisano
Private Roy Mayfield, 18, of Fort D. A. Russell Marfa Texas, was severely injured when his foot was crushed by a wheel while attempting to board a moving freight train at Paisano station 12 miles west of Alpine. He had ridden to Paisano from Marfa to catch a westbound train and was taken to Turney hospital for an operation amputating three toes, then sent to Fort Bliss army hospital El Paso. Mayfield's home is in Ghia Grove Texas.
