Mineral Survey director aids mineral exhibits and field work
Dr William Phillips director of the State Mineral Survey attended the National Irrigation Congress in El Paso and went to St Louis to supervise packing Texas mineral exhibits for the World’s Fair. He directs surveys around the Hazel mine and prospecting the new coal field near the Rio Grande south of Fort Hancock. The Terlingua quicksilver field has benefited from nearby stores and wider prospecting. Koker travels to Alpine to study conditions before winter.

The town of Presidio, swept under by the Rio Grande on Sept 18, is being rebuilt. A large store is under construction and several homes rise on the old site, with more buildings planned as dry weather returns, aiming to resume business at the former location within a year.
Orient to Bersumed Rail Line Nearing Resumption
A. E. Stilwell, president of the Kansas City, Mexico & Orient railroad, is en route to Mexico to authorize resumption of the line halted last summer after heavy rains. Track laying from the southwest into Wichita is finished, making a 150 mile section ready with trains to Kansas City via Wichita once trackage is arranged.
