Retail Merchants Association Holds Evening Meeting

The Retail Merchants Association met at Berkeley Hall with ladies present as ex officio members. President Watson named John Perkins C. E. McCool and Margaret Linn to plan the next luncheon. A 5:40 close to all stores was approved to run until March 15. News included a lighter note with "Old Black Joe" sung by Mrs. F. E. Gillett and a closing rendition of "America" led by Mrs. Gillett.

Roswell Junior Red Cross Enrolls 1982 in City and County

In Roswell and Chaves County New Mexico twenty four schools join the Junior Red Cross totaling 1982 members. The group cleans school grounds, promotes health rules, makes garments for relief work and funds medical care for children whose families cannot pay. A worm infection was treated and a child’s glasses and tonsil surgery funded. The Alpine unit anticipates continuing service next year.

The Students' Council met in President Morelock's office on Friday morning November 9 and elected Herbert Hext, Mask and Slipper Club representative, as president for the coming year. Members include Lenn Kelly Warren Parsell John Prude Walter Caldwell Merrill Pouncey Alfred Ligon Guy Smith Johnnie Weyerts Nellie Mae Gourley and others. The council plans improved outdoor recreation advertising student success and social calendars and will meet monthly in the chapel period in President Morelock's office to discuss student welfare and college problems.

Regents to visit Sul Ross State Teachers College

The Board of Regents for the Texas State Teachers Colleges will visit Sul Ross State Teachers College on Saturday December 15. The vice president is Robert J Eckhardt of Taylor and the president is Martin O Flowers of Lockhart. Also listed are J J Bennet Stephenville Margie E Neal Carthage Fred Martin Fort Worth and H T Musselmann Dallas. Public notices include phone billing terms and a sewing service ad by Mrs H B Houston of Uvalde.
