Cattle Shipments Surge From Alpine Market
The past week saw an unusually active cattle movement from Alpine with over 3,000 head shipped. Jackson & Harmon moved 417 head of steers to Jess Elrod in San Angelo for about 1000 pounds each, while 550 calves and 228 yearlings were sent to J. W. Espy for Kansas City Hereford sales. Additional loads went to Fort Worth and Kansas feedlots. Cotter & Cotter sent champion calves to Tornillo. Shipments included cows, bulls, and yearlings, with work continuing at Kokernot ranch north of Alpine.

New Test to be Drilled Glass Mountains
A new test will be started near Alpine in the Glass Mountains area within days on cation recently made. The well will be drilled on the Jackson & Harmon ranch about 16 miles east of Alpine, location between Section 1, block 331, Tailway Company. J D Jackson reports Cowden & Cole of El Paso will handle the new test with standard rig from New Mexico. Time limit for spudding in set for November 26 per the contract. Another test by Tuckey on the Jackson & Harmon ranch near Strobel Station east of Mipine down 450 feet on gray lime formation with indications favorable. Progress reported at Mid-Kaasas Turney No 1 in southern Brewster County with 1820 feet depth Wednesday evening. Leasing activity rising. stock in trade includes cowboys boots, spurs, bits and leather goods at local saddlery shops.
