Special agent A E Steinmetz of the P P came upon Paul Jones and three companions in a box car during rounds. Jones drew his gun and was shot by a nearby hobo as Steinmetz subdued him. Nine more guns and four knives were found in a car at Marfa. Jones, remanded to jail, faces assault with intent to kill charges. companion Fred Lawman is a material witness.

Head and Mrs. Fernon McIntyre joined. Delegates named for the federation sessions include H. W. Ferguson, J. Rattif, Leo Howell, with alternates J. R. Middlebrook, H. L. Stuckey, J. A. McGonagill. Plans were announced for Alpine’s scenic drive for delegates returning from the federation, with departures on the east-bound limited at 4:30. The program featured readings and music by Mrs. Middlebrook, Mrs. C. D. Wood, and Mrs. Ld. Rati. A social course was served at the hostesses’ table.
