Big Bend Deer Season Opens as Hunters Pour In
Nimrods from across Texas and neighboring states flood the Big Bend Davis Mountains area ahead of deer season winding up tomorrow. Resorts report early reservations and expect hundreds in the field through November 10 with bag limits of one three pronged blacktail, two flags, or one flagtail and one blacktail. In the fifteen day open period last year twenty two buck were taken in the Trans-Pecos region, not counting local county hunters. The core hunting grounds lie in Jeff Davis, Brewster, Presidio and Culberson counties where blacktail remains the prized quarry.

Bucks and Fabens Battle to 13 13 Tie on Armistice Day
Alpine High Bucks and Fabens Wildcats fought to a 13 13 draw at Jackson Field on Armistice Day before a good crowd. Bar Yow's 50 yard run sparked the Bucks in the second period, but Fabens answered with two quick scores. Barrow and Valadez stood out for Bucks, Crankright and Perr led Fabens. Efforts are underway to schedule an 8 game with Del Rio High for Thanksgiving Day.
