Marathon Study Club Observes Education Week Program

The Marathon Study Club held a program on Christian Education with Mrs. W W Jones as chairman. Mrs. Bohannon of Alpine spoke on the topic. The meeting opened with a club reading in unison. Resignation of Mrs. Steve Stumberg Jr was read and Mrs. J J Roberts was named treasurer. A $27 surplus was raised by miniature aprons. The club will sell food at the Turkey Shoot at the Post on Saturday Nov 19 with Beulah Van Deman chairing the food booth and Mabel Arnold handling ticket sales for a large turkey. Members included Bohannon Wade Alpine and many Marathon residents. The Greens and Dave Allens fished over the weekend, and Airman Billy Pat McKinney and his family visited Marathon for medical care. A bridge gathering yielded winners Mrs We din Mrs Ritchey and Mrs Green. A barbecue at Milhon behind the Alamo Club fed several hundred, with the Ritcheys and Elby Adams hosting friends. Tom Yarbro county commissioner traveled to Austin on business. Advertise or be forgotten.
