New Chemical Guns Kill 41 Coyotes in Brewster County
RT Watts a special trapper reports 41 coyotes killed by the new chemical gun or getter during October in Brewster County north of Big Bend National Park. Rain hindered hunts but many getters were lost to high water. An old female coyote found fat and pregnant with sheep. Program will run November and December with plans for a permanent, countywide effort after trials.

County Bond Sales Reach About 25 Percent of Quota
Brewster county reported about 25 percent of its 160000 Victory Loan quota, with total bonds sold near 48000 and about 8000 of that in E bonds. G W Baines, county War Finance committee chairman, stated the figures yesterday as the E bond quota stands at 60000.

CP and L Sells Big Bend Holdings to WT Utilities
Central Power and Light Co sells its electric and ice properties in the Big Bend district to West Texas Utilities Co subject to SEC approval. Ranchman Develops Two Fine Bull Calves From Noted Herds
Ranchman Jack Roberts of Cattle Co near Marathon develops two bull calves from Fitzsimons Land and Cattle Co stock near Llano. Both share grandsires WHA Superior Domino and Manassa Domino, with dams Strong Beau Best bred cows. Calves are uniform and nearly full brothers. One sire is HAF Blackey Manassa Din, who sired multiple prizewinners including a get-of-sire class winner at Houston 1948 and Fort Worth 1943, plus the reserve champion steer at Fort Worth 1945.

With Mar fa army air field slated to inactivate soon, Alpine USO club ordered closed as of Nov 1. furniture and equipment sold in a recent sale bid by C. W. Davis. A social lab may open in the quarters within weeks. The USO has operated about three years with Mrs. Fred Rogers and Mrs. Vernon McIntyre as chairmen. Before the air field, a service men's club was run and financed by Alpine citizens.

Chemical Gun Accounts For 53 Coyotes On One Culberson County Ranch
Darwin Ivey of the State Wildlife Service at Marfa reports 83 coyotes killed by chemical guns on the 2 ranch in Culberson county during October. Ivey notes the system, recently adopted, uses his trappers with new guns or getters. The operation spanned 3.5 days to set and about two days per trip to run and re bait, with nine brushy pulls yielding no game and two dead non target animals. No livestock interference found across the string.
