Public hearing on Brewster County hunting regulations set

Landowners and sportsmen are urged to attend this Parks and Wildlife Department event highlighting cooperation among groups that sustain hunting in the Big Bend as a business and sport.

Mrs Bailey attended the 4th Division American Legion Auxiliary Convention in Odessa on May 22 23 as a delegate from the Alpine Unit. Mrs Bailey chaired distinguished guests and district president. Mrs John Lakeman of El Paso was elected state vice president and Jack Flynt of Dimmit was chosen state vice commander for 1965 66. Mesdames Maurice Ruby Henry Bailey Jack Whitson and dt were elected as delegates to the national auxiliary.

The aim is to assess feasibility of new vocational programs in public schools and to make recommendations after TEA evaluation.

The Alpine High School yearbook El Ocotillo received a Certificate of Special Merit and Grade A from the National School Yearbook Association for its high quality. Editors Julie Forchheimer Karen Brown Rochelle Sohl and sponsor Mary F. Boysen are cited for the achievement. Registration for art and craft classes offered by Mrs. Theophilus at Alpine High and Sul Ross College is set for June 1 with tuition around 21 dollars for six weeks plus maintenance. Two Brownsville men are jailed in Brewster County on marijuana possession charges after a traffic stop on U S Highway 90. bond set at 15000 and 10000 respectively.

Alpine volunteers appeal for donations to replace a 1938 firetruck used as the main grass and out of city response unit. Officials say the truck cannot leave Alpine, its 500 gallon tank and hoses are needed for hydrantless fires, and it served at an Army Air Base during WWII. Alpine nursing school to begin June 1
The Alpine Independent School District voc ational Nursing program will start its first class soon after June 1. Instructor Roberta Shortt seeks applicants for the 12 month course.
