Edgar M. Glasscock assumed duties as manager of the J. C. Penney store in Alpine succeeding J. L. Waller. Bids for the Kokernot Lodge addition and complete remodeling will open June 23 in Alpine. Dr. Bryan Wildenthal of Sul Ross College says the project caps a long range plan with the Alpine El Progreso Club. Plans include a caretaker’s apartment, refinished social rooms with outside-access washrooms, a full kitchen and pass window to serve banquets, aiming to ready Kokernot Park social center by fall.

Grass Fire Extinguished At Mitre Peak Scout Camp

Funeral Service Held In Alpine For E Johnson
Funeral services were held for E E Johnson 68 retired tall toadman at the Livingston Funeral Home chapel in Alpine. He died Friday of a heart attack and was found in his room at Clifford House Saturday afternoon. Johnson was born July 12 1886 in Lamar Aransas County and married Annie Elmira at Goliad in 1909. Surviving are two sons Roy F and Eugene a daughter Mrs Bob Burleson a brother W R Johnson and eight grandchildren.
