NFFIP Supports Polio Victims in Brewster County
Brewster county polio victims have cost the local NFFIP chapter and the National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis $2489.21 since January 1. Contributions in January and February totaled $1509.61, half sent to the national foundation and half kept locally. The national foundation continues aiding local patients when funds run out. three patients have received treatment this year, two in Hendrick Memorial hospital Abilene, with Adams dying en route.

Combs Offers Site For Proposed Dam
About 25 Alpine Sportsman members led by Alonzo Hord and Judge Felix McGaughy met at Marathon Community Center to discuss a proposed 50 acre lake at Old Fort Penn springs four miles southwest of Marathon. David Combs and his father Guy Combs offer springs and up to 100 acres of land for non profit recreation, with a dam to be about 25 feet high, funded at fifty to seventy five thousand dollars. A further meeting is set for Alpine May 30 at the American Legion hall to advance planning.

Sul Ross students injured in motorcycle accident
Bob Dalton, a Sul Ross student, was seriously injured when the motorcycle he and his brother Nat, also a Sul Ross student, were riding left the road and struck a tree near the loop road bridge. Bob suffered a broken leg in two places while Nat received a deep knee cut. The brothers live in Bandera. Glenn Kokernot of Thendara, New York, visited his mother Mrs. Ida Kokernot here this week.

Scout Camp Opens June For Big Bend Scouts
The Buffalo Trail council opens its scout camp on June 11 for six weeks hosting 120 campers weekly. City Employee Hurt After Horse Fall Near Kokernot Ranch
