Rev J T Merrow pastor Presbyterian church to preach with County Judge R B Slight delivering the invocation and Rev M M Fulmer reading scripture. Pat Murphy of San Angelo to give the address. 38 candidates for diplomas pending exams and ten more scheduled to graduate at summer school end. Oliver Blerschwale president of the senior class and Mary Bess Hamilton secretary and valedictorian with Constance Duncan treasurer and salutatorian. Class sponsors Mrs Isabel Winter and Coach J H Webb. Junior High closing included a banquet in home economics and a Kokernot Lodge dance last Friday night. Central ward and Centennial Junior High will have no formal closing.

Motorists on the Alpine Ft Davis highway were drawn by a huge light atop Jozy Mitre Peak. Mrs Arthur Blucher explained the beacon was a bonfire built by her son Arthur Jr with C W Bulleiter and another guest from Shreveport, plus two ranch employees who spent the night atop the peak.

Lone Grave Marks Deaths Of Two Youthful Horse Thieves
Fort Davis memory tale recounts the burial of two young horse thieves in 1896. Judge J P Weatherby and Tom Granger preserved a weathered headboard inscribing Just in memory of a couple of kids. Coffins cost 13 dollars each. A Negro Baptist preacher prayed at the grave as a deputy sheriff witnessed the burial near Limpia canyon. The headboard bears J Friar, later renamed by Granger as the tale recalls the old event.

Work of the School Patrol Praised by Police Chief

Progress Report On Relocation Of Highway 90 In Two Counties
Progress on relocating Highway 90 in Uvalde and Medina counties between Sabinal and DHanis advances. Drainage structures on the Medina stretch of about eight miles should be finished by early June with dirt work by late August or early September. The Uvalde segment is shorter and may open to traffic in late summer or early fall. The new highway lies south of the Southern Pacific tracks, removing a narrow underpass near DHanis and a railroad crossing at Sabinal along with winding roads.

Warrens Move to New Uvalde County Ranch
Mr and Mrs W S Warren and son Dale plan to move to their new home in Uvalde County next week. Warren recently bought a ranch 25 miles north of Uvalde, trading Brewster County holdings in the Hovey area.
