Contractor Ralph Peters of Alpine has been awarded the building contract for the Gaddis office clinic opposite Brewster County Memorial Hospital. The brick one story facility costing about 30000 will include reception and examination rooms plus a laboratory and x ray room. Completion is targeted for September 15. Dr Don Gaddis, Fort Davis practitioner for seven years, will move his wife and three children to Alpine before school opens. he earned his MD from the University of Virginia.

Mrs May Buried Here in Alpine Funeral Held for Mrs J D May
Funeral services for Mrs J D May 83 were held at 10 a m Saturday May 19 at First Methodist Church with Rev Kelly Scott and Rev W A Anthony officiating. Burial was in Elm Grove Cemetery under Livingston Funeral Home. She died May 17 at her daughter’s home and had five younger children. Survivors include three daughters three sons 13 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Out of town relatives attended the funeral.

Pat Martinez Dies in Hospital
Pat Martinez died in Brewster County Memorial Hospital on Friday May 18 after a long illness. Funeral services were held at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church Sunday at 4 p.m. Burial was in Alpine Cemetery. Survived by widow Esther, two sons Robert of Odessa and Pat Jr in England, five daughters in Alpine, San Jose, Ocean Side, and Odessa, three sisters in Alpine and Lubbock, and two brothers.

Alpine High graduates plan California tour in 1962
The Senior Class of Alpine High School will tour California May 25 to June 1 after graduation. Forty two students will travel in a school bus, stay at Hotel Desert Hills and Blair House Motel, visit Disneyland and Hollywood areas, see a Angels Yankees game, and view a TV film shoot arranged by Dan Blocker. The trip cost about $3000 with each student receiving daily allowances. The group is funded by local townspeople and parent support. Rev Streetman was to undergo surgery near Temple after a clinic checkup.

Big Bend Post 79 of the American Legion will send Joe Wright Phillip Kimball and Freddy Granado all from Alpine High to Boys State at the University of Texas Austin June 3 to 10. Commander David Kokerot says selections are made with Superintendent Jack Frost and staff from the junior class. The program trains youth in citizenship and democratic processes with support from local sponsors and the department.
