Dismantled Chevrolet Car Delivered After Split Transit
Detroit May 13 It became necessary for the first time in Chevrolet history to dismantle a car after sale to deliver it to a purchaser in Acheen northern Sumatra. A Chevrolet truck was taken apart and transported overland by coolies across jungle terrain to Meulaboh then inland to a distant point. The caravan required careful handling of heavy parts with wheel bearing coolie escorts through rugged country.

An expedition crossed jungle and ravines by narrow mountain paths and river crossings. A cable bridge blocked the stream forcing coolies to ferry parts. Nearly a month passed before all parts arrived and a dealer’s mechanic assembled a Chevrolet truck, resuming operations.
