Texas Highway Commission Approves Alpine Route Upgrade
The Texas Highway Commission approved routing U S 90 traffic through Alpine on two-lane streets with eastbound on Holland Avenue and westbound on Avenue E. Avenue E will become Highway 30 from Apple Street to Sul Ross State College, 1.2 miles, at an estimated 184000 dollars. U S 90 reconstruction near North Harrison Street to the east city limit is 60000 dollars. The city awaits official notice before action.

Edward Carlton Dennis 61 of Garden Grove Calif died after brief illness in Brewster County Memorial Hospital. Born Sept 23 1898 in Merkel Texas he retired in 1962 after 33 years with the U S Immigration and Naturalization Service. Survived by wife daughter sister and two grandchildren funeral held at First Methodist Church with burial in Elm Grove Cemetery.
