Alpine High School Student Parachute Accident
Claude Garner, a junior from Alpine High School and son of Mr and Mrs C R Garner, broke both arms when a home made parachute failed during a jump from a 40 foot bluff on the A J Tippit ranch 15 miles north of Alpine. He is reported to be improving satisfactorily.

Bridge On Holland Nears Completion
The new West Holland avenue bridge, started last month, is 90 percent done and should finish next week barring delays. The project includes asphalt paving 50 feet wide from the Santa Fe underpass east to Seventh street, with total cost of 36000 funded by state and federal governments. W. W. Turney Dies at 77 After Ranch Ties
W. W. Turney 77, longtime Brewster and Presidio ranch owner, died in El Paso last Thursday. A Fort Davis native, he taught school there in 1886, became a lawyer, and later practiced with Turney Burgess Culwell Pollard in El Paso. He was brother to Brewster County Attorney A. M. Turney and had split time between El Paso and Alpine for ranch interests.
