Alpine City to Buy Water Tank and Reservoir

Alpine plans to acquire Southern Pacific's 50,000 gallon water tank near the depot and pursue a 100,000 gallon reservoir at Small station near Sierra Blanca. The corroded bottom is junk, but sides of quarter inch steel are sound. Officials discuss using SP girders for a bridge at Alpine Creek and salvaging the 50,000 gallon tank in vertical sections for a settling tank near the old Well pump house to improve water quality in Sunny Glenn area.
