The Alpine Lodge 806 notes the death of the wife of our brother B H Smith and extends condolences. The tribute recalls her as a faithful partner and urges comfort from the Father and Son, with copies to the press and lodge minutes. Adopted Feb 27 1911.
The article argues against feeding hens boxed drug labeled egg foods and warns such additives can drive hens out of lay. It promotes real nutrition with corn, wheat, oats, clover, vegetables, meat scraps, milk and grass and notes that dry roughage alone harms livestock. It reflects on domesticated poultry and the toll of artificial feeds.
E H Shauffer, traffic manager, says the Kansas City Mexico Orient Railway will create a new transcontinental route to California. An experimental orange train Colton to Kansas City in four days twenty hours beat six day averages on several lines. Route included Southern Pacific El Paso Texas and Pacific to Sweetwater Orient to Wichita and Missouri Pacific to Kansas City. From Wichita to Kansas City 227 miles took ten and a half hours. Whole Colton to Buffalo run in seven and a half days via Wabash. Completion Kansas City to Pacific Coast expected within a year.
In San Antonio committees completed arrangements for the thirty fifth annual Cattle Raisers Association of Texas convention to be held March 21 and 23. A total of 3000 dollars was raised to provide entertainment for visiting delegates, including music, automobile rides, banquets, smokers and receptions.
