Sul Ross State College presents A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, running three nights March 6-8 at 8:15 in the main auditorium. Roy Lassiter stars as Pseudolus with Rod Davis, Molly Faulk from Alpine and others in a campus collaboration across music and drama departments.

Death of Curly Davis Ends Long Brewster County Life
Curly Davis 76 long time Brewster County resident died Feb 28 in Brewster Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness. Funeral March 2 at First Baptist Church with Rev James R Best officiating. Burial Elm Grove Cemetery. Survived by wife Barbara, son Charlie Davis, daughter Mrs Earl Bryant, three sisters and eight grandchildren. Born Sept 17 1892 in South Carolina he lived in Brewster County 42 years and ran Curly's Service Station 1930 1952. He was a World War I veteran and charter member of American Legion Big Bend Post 79 Alpine. Donations to American Cancer Society requested.

Incumbents Tom Connor Paul Vogt and Alberto Rojo seek 2 year terms with J M Floyd joining the race. Absentee voting runs March 17 through April 1 from the county clerk. Holdover council members are Mayor Homer Hudgins Dorothy McBride and Norman Beard. Alpine Girl Scouts open house set for Sunday March 9 from 3 to 5 pm at the Scout house 404 N 6th all with renovations funded by local volunteers.
