Fort Worth Livestock Receipts Soar Amid Price Squeeze
Receipts of all live stock classes expanded in Fort Worth last week despite beet and ice disruptions. Cattle and calf prices jumped with yearlings and stocker calves selling above week earlier, aided by a packer price squeeze as ceiling meat prices limited supply. Good steer and yearling prices reached 32 to 37 dollars, with heavier cattle marking new all time records. Sheep and lamb markets remained mostly steady with strong demand for wool fats and feeder lambs showing mixed results. Fresh clipped yearlings and woolled yearlings posted notable price levels, while old sheep and bucks traded lower.
