Tony Warnock a high school senior at Alpine High School earned a National Science Foundation Award to do advanced mathematics. He will spend six weeks at the University of Texas among 30 selected from 400 applicants. He is the son of Dr and Mrs Barton H Warnock.
Park Superintendent Stanley Joseph announced that the Canyon Trail into Santa Helena Canyon in Big Bend National Park has been rebuilt and is open to the public. He noted last year’s rains caused Lingua Creek to flood washing out the crossing and that large rocks were used to fill the mouth of the canyon as a temporary measure.
