Marathon Notes Report Damaging Rain and Local Events
Tom Burnam and daughter Miss Ned visited the N. J. Walker home near Alpine this week. A heavy Friday rain damaged windows but the hall did not suffer major wind impact. Commissioner Bourland attended a Commissioners Court session. W. J. McIntyre got a new boat for use on his ranch tanks. J. T. Armstrong, Big Bend rubber company superintendent, is in Marathon this week.

Mexican man killed in county crime near Finley ranch
Sheriff Allen Walton was informed Wednesday that Jaan Gonzales killed a Mexican named Loucia Garcia near Finley’s ranch in the southern county. Garcia died Tuesday morning while tending goats. Gonzales fled and remains at large. The sheriff calls the killing a foul murder with unclear motive.

Tag Day a Success in Alpine by Civic Club
Alpine Civic Improvement Club raised 86 dollars through a Tag Day event last Saturday with many young ladies tagging residents. The proceeds fund a band stand and future entertainments to complete the project, with the club seeking more funds and promising continued efforts.
