U S Soaring Meet Opens June 24 Trail Ride To Pecos
The Pecos Trail Ride from Alpine to Pecos runs June 28 to July 1 with 200 plus riders. Participants stop at Fort Davis Balmorhea Hoban Spur and Pecos, ending with a parade and barbecue. Trophies await oldest and youngest finishers. Contact numbers are given for joining.

Fatal headon crash near Alpine claims life of Taylor Rodriguez
Taylor Rodriguez 22, an Alpine service station employee, was killed when his 1967 Ford sedan collided head on with a 1959 International truck driven by Porfirio B. Martinez of San Antonio, 10 miles west of Alpine on U S Highway 90. The eastbound lane was closed until 1:55 a.m. Monday. Rodriguezs funeral was held at Holy Angel Cemetery with Rev. Walter Esch officiating.
