Alpine prepares for a modern theatre to be built on the current A.B. Sandifer Western Union site near the Mitchell-Gillett corner. The brick or concrete building will be steam heated with two latest model machines, opera chairs, a gold-fibre screen, and a restfully designed photoplay space. Jack McFarland will manage ownership interests as plans advance.
A citizens meeting at Red Cross rooms agreed to hold a barbecue and celebration for returned soldiers on Friday July 25. An executive committee led by Newell as chairman and including Camp Jackson Berkeley Gillett and Reemtsma was elected and will appoint subcommittees as plans move forward. The writer looks forward to a gala day in Alpine on July 23.
Captain Thrift of the Alpine Base Ball Team urges all boys to attend regular practice on Mondays Wednesdays and Fridays. Several good games are already arranged and the team aims to whip itself into top form. Alpine considers buying a park to use as a permanent ball ground, a move supported by enthusiastic athletic club sentiment.
Mr John K Anthony a field worker for Texas Public Health Assny conducts a survey of tuberculosis in the locality. He seeks to visit every patient and considers Alpine well suited for TB care. The Alpine Study Club met at the home of Mrs FR Bentley with Mrs Shelby Burke as leader. The group studied Hawaii and adjacent lands. Mrs Burke presented the subject very ably. Refreshments included a salad course and loganberry.

Miss Pagenia Danuzter and Miss Mildred Hood of Fort Worth Texas arrived in Alpine on a Wednesday afternoon, driving solo from Fort Worth on Saturday. They ran the trip in under a day, endured sand near Albany, and praised Miss Danuzter who completed Business College in Bay. Hood planned a longer visit with Miss Jer lasting a month or more.
