Grand Jury to Probe Ramos Case Friday
Brewster County District Attorney Bill Barney has summoned the grand jury to meet at 1 30 p m Friday June 14 to investigate the Ramos shooting case and Sheriff Carl Williams. Elvay White Ramos, 16, was fatally wounded Monday night June 10 during a pursuit by City Policeman F L Powers Jr. He died Wednesday morning June 12 at Brewster Memorial Hospital. The officer reported a high speed chase through Lackey Street Jackson Field Harmon Weyerts Drive and East Avenue F ending with the suspect fleeing on foot into a field. He fired twice, saw the suspect fall, and rushed him to hospital with an ambulance call.

Big Bend Summer Band Camp closes with a 7 30 p m concert in Sul Ross Main Auditorium. Admission is free and the public may attend. The program features the honor band the symphonic band and the concert band with guest clinicians Clarence Sawhill UCLA William H Hill ASU and W Francis McBeth Ouachita. One hundred sixty six students have been attending the annual camp.

Trial to Be Held Today in Alpine Murder Case
Mrs. Wilda F. Meixner, 33, charged with murdering her husband Arthur L. Meixner, 36, will face an examining trial today in Justice Hallie Stillwell's court at Marfa. The shooting occurred Friday night near Alpine. Meixner posted a $10,000 bond after arraignment.
