Summer enrollment seen higher at Sul Ross State College

Dr Bevington Reed says once a summer term at Sul Ross will likely exceed last year with registration running through June 9. Regular classes started and many Alpine High graduates plan to enroll after senior trips to New Orleans. First term ends July 11 with second term starting July 14 and commencement August 21.

Mitre Peak Camp to Open Sixth Season for 80 Girls

Mitre Peak Girl Scout Camp between Alpine and Fort Davis opens June 8 for the 11th season. Ninety campers will attend three two week sessions and two one week sessions with girls from 15 West Texas counties. Activities include hiking swimming rock hunting and campfire singing. Notable staff include Dephane Tabor director and Mrs. Ruthie Harvey cook with several counselors and nurses among the ranks.

Miniature Golf Course Opens at Western Hills

Western Hills Miniature Golf Course an 18 hole facility opens at 906 W Holland Ave by P M Plimmer. Course operates day and night with hazards updated to offer a challenging round. Plimmer says the project aims to boost recreation for the Big Bend and Davis Mountains area.
