Ross college hosts visiting cowmen on Aug 1 2 and 3 with George Jones president of the association as principal speaker. W B Mitchell from Marfa directed the discussion noting rising beef production among farmers in the south and highlighting livestock work by the association.
The Saxette demonstration class meets at Central Ward school Tuesday at 9:00 for a 10 week program. Open to 4th 5th and 6th graders with enrollment invited. John Carrico of Sul Ros college teaches under Wm. Russell Pinkerton supervision.

Plans for a church revival at First Baptist announce sessions starting Wednesday June 8 held in homes across Alpine and East Alpine with three gatherings per night. Rev. Fulmer and his family will visit Fabens during the event. Services run morning and evening at 8:30.
Lock bones for Alpine's new post office building were shipped from the Yale and Towne factory in Connecticut on May 20. Construction superintendent N. O. Finch was advised this week and said the shipment should arrive in time for installation and occupancy by June 15.
Mrs Dorris announced a major modernization at the Midget Beauty Shop plant as new equipment is installed and the facility is enlarged. The improvements aim to boost capabilities and efficiency across the operation.
Fort Davis correspondent recounts 1921 incident when an army mess sergeant killed a rancher's bull 12 miles west of Valentine to secure fresh meat. The sergeant later traveled with cavalry at Balmorhea. Rangers investigated the rifle cartridge used, leading to his arrest in Marfa.
Commencement exercises for 38 high school seniors were held in the college auditorium Tuesday at 8 o clock. Dr. D M Wiggins president of the Texas School of Mines El Paso delivered the address. Mary Ann Kokernot salutatory president presented the diplomas. Rev J T Morrow preached the baccalaureate sermon last Sunday evening. The high school glee club and Miss Pauline Austin supplied music. attendance was good and well received.
A Pecos boosters party is due in Alpine this afternoon between 4 and 5 PM to advertise the Pecos rodeo set for July 2 3 4. The Pecos High School band under Wesley May will perform an 18 minute downtown concert and citizens are urged to welcome the visitors.
Albert R. Cauthorn of Del Rio, representative of the 87th district, makes a campaign stop in Alpine as he seeks reelection. He spoke with residents and praised local support during the visit.
The P and S F Ry Co argues daily motor train between Fort Stockton and Alpine costs about 1943 dollars monthly while revenue is around 467 dollars. They seek to discontinue the motor trains and continue a mixed Fort Stockton Presidio service with one train daily. Railroad officials attorneys and transport unions attended the Texas Railroad Commission hearing Tuesday. C E Patterson represented the citizens committee and Frank O Ray spoke for the railroad. The examiner allotted 15 minutes to each side.
Forty four students received degrees at Sul Ross College during the commencement in the college auditorium. It was the largest June class in college history. President H W Morelock delivered the address and awarded degrees. Baccalaureate services were held Sunday morning led by Rev C A Ridge of Fort.

Stockton Texas prepares to host the 1938 Water Carnival and Bathing Revue June 17 to 19. Mrs. H L Winfield chairs a parade and beauty contest, inviting regional towns to enter floats and entries with no fees and prizes. The Texas University swimming team and top collegiate swimmers will perform under Coach Tex Robertson at Comanche Spring pool’s new $25,000 bathhouse.

Public subscriptions fund land purchases deeded to the Federal government, opening a park second in size to Yellowstone and linked to a Mexican park across the Rio Grande.
Mrs Berta Clark Lassiter resigns as secretary of the Chamber of Commerce effective June 1 after nearly four years of service dating from 1934 and 1935. The D C directors accepted the resignation with regret and appointed Miss Josephine White of Carrizo Springs to serve temporarily as secretary.
About 50 county agents and committee men attended a Range Conservation Field Day at the Kekernet Lionella ranch near Hovey. They toured the 97 000 cubic yard spillway dam built under the 1937 38 program by Zachary Construction. Speakers explained dam purposes including flood control for 400 sections and spreading floodwater over land.
