Paisano Baptist encampment opens with larger attendance
The 34th Paisano Baptist encampment began with greater attendance than last year. Dr. Perry F. Webb of San Antonio delivered the opening sermon before a packed tabernacle while Alpine and nearby towns sent many visitors. About 800 ate at the dining pavilion and officials noted roughly 100 more meals than opening night a year earlier.

New City Builds Second Well Near Kokernot Lodge
City officials report a new well near the Kokernot lodge produced 50 to 60 gallons per minute in a recent test. A second well 250 yards downstream is under construction, with a 17 000 gallon storage tank moved to the site. A four inch line extends 4000 feet to the Ball Park main, and a third well may follow after the second.

The 10th anniversary event of Big Bend National Park was held Wednesday afternoon. A detailed report on activities will be issued next week. Mrs Berta Clark Lassiter, member of the Texas State Teachers Association executive committee, visited Austin last week as part of a seven member committee to summarize a recent analysis of the association headquarters organization. The analysis was needed due to rapid growth of the TSTA.
