Mrs Gene Benson entertained Saturday with a party honoring her sister Miss Jo Alice McDonald of San Angelo and cousins Miss Suelena Speed of Waco and Jim McDonald of El Paso, plus Eva Jean Ferguson Emmy Lou Harris and Jackie Cross. They visited Indian Lodge for luncheon and then the observatory to hear Dr Dersham’s daily lecture from 1:30 to 2:30.

Medal of Honor Hero Eubanks Dies in Dutch New Guinea Action
La Grange NC native Le Rey Eubanks posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor for charging a Japanese position in Dutch New Guinea under heavy fire. Wounded and rifle crippled, he aided his platoon as they repelled the attack, with his squad reportedly killing 45 Japanese and securing the relief effort.
