Sul Ross to officially name the new girls dormitory Morelock Hall in a ceremony on August 4. Regents honored Dr. Morelock for 22 years of service. Judge Hunter Metcalfe will give the dedicatory speech. The Morelock family will attend. a Dedication Committee chaired by Miss Laurene Lighthouse includes college and town friends.

Ray Holden of KO's Photo Illus Division led a 10 day visit in Big Bend National Park, Texas to photograph a World's Fair display. Alpine High School girls modeled with a red convertible loaned from a local dealer, arranged by Peter Koch of the Alpine Chamber of Commerce. The project drew broad publicity locally and statewide.

French Youth Named Alpine High School Exchange Student
Claude Guillemet of Tou lone France becomes an Alpine High School exchange student for next year. He will live with Mrs. Doyle Vincent and is part of the senior honor group in the Student Council. Claude was born in Safi December 10 1945 and moved to France in 1957. He studied English six years and hopes to teach English in France after graduation. He enjoys rugby and harmonica playing in a band. He cites American dreams of cowboys and skyscrapers as why he wants to study in the United States. Mr. Vincent served in World War I with the U S Army.

The Paisano Baptist Encampment will open Monday July 29 and run through Sunday. Located on U S Highway 90 between Alpine and Marfa, ministers include Dr James Landes of Hardin Simmons University and Dr Buckner Fanning of Trinity Baptist Church San Antonio. Vocational Rehabilitation Office to Open in Alpine
The Texas Education Agency will open a new Vocational Rehabilitation Office in Alpine after Sept. 1. Jeff Graham will transfer from El Paso to run the Alpine office, which will serve 12 counties from Val Verde to Hudspeth. The area has about 100000 residents and a local committee aims to establish a regional workshop.

Art Contest Announced For Tri County Exhibit
A state art contest announced by the Women of the Democratic Party will hold a preliminary show at the Holland House Hotel Alpine on July 27 and 28. Entries from Brewster Presidio and Jeff Davis Counties are invited this week and next, judged for a district contest in San Angelo on August 6. A $500 scholarship will be awarded to the state winner by Gov. Conley.
