Summer school notes and local code for Alpine schools
Mrs Hal Wagner resumed high school English in summer school with Mr Slover covering six weeks. Enrollment grew as 10 new students joined a 65 student summer program. Teachers used film strips and audio visuals including Along the Silk Route, Regional Geography, and number-focused lessons. A Bermuda grass playground area and vaccination efforts were reported. City ordinance for curb gutter and sidewalk on North 5th Street and Highway 118 was outlined with construction costs and enforcement. Public library usage and school library needs were discussed alongside patio and night volleyball at Centennial School. A divorce suit was filed in Brewster County court, Edith Arnett Caldwell versus Rogan Caldwell, with a hearing set for August 9, 1948.
