Christine Young becomes the first African American student to attend Sul Ross State College Alpine daughter of Richard and Mrs Young of Alpine. Young, a 1960 Alpine High School graduate, held leadership roles in Future Homemakers of America and Future Teachers of America, joined the Women’s Army Corps after graduation and served until recently.
